Background

Van der Walt Logistics (Namibia) (Pty) Ltd., a fully Namibian owned company, with its Head Office in Swakopmund/Walvis Bay, the capital of the Erongo Region and Branch Office in Walvis Bay. 

 

The Company was officially registered during 2018 with its main purpose to distribute containerized and break-bulk cargo throughout Namibia and its neighboring countries. 

 

Van der Walt Logistics (Namibia) (Pty) Ltd. is a member of the Namibia Logistics Association (NLA) and is also a member of the Walvis Bay Corridor Group initiative and plays an active role in the development of the different corridors like Botswana and South Africa.

Route/Product profiles

 

Van der Walt Logistics (Namibia) (Pty) Ltd. distributes sugar throughout Namibia on a contractual basis on behalf of Bokomo Namibia which forms an integral part of our national long-haul operations. We are proud to mention that we have successfully been involved as primary carrier for Bokomo (sugar distribution) for a period of more than 6 years to date.

 

In addition to above, our long-haul operations include neighboring countries Botswana and South Africa. 

 

The movement of abnormal cargo is one of our specialized services that we offer. This service is offered to countries which include Namibia, Botswana, RSA, Zambia and DRC.

  

Van der Walt Logistics is also actively involved with the transporting of petrol/ diesel and HFO on behalf of Namcor to B2Gold and Husab Mine respectively. This has also been conducted on a contractual basis and has been a specialized portion of our services for the past 5 years.

 

Our local fleet makes provision for the transportation of containerized cargo primarily within the Erongo Region and Walvis Bay specifically.  This involves the movement of containers between Port and warehousing facilities as well as different clients. In addition to this, we also offer an extended service with our reach stackers and 7-ton forklift.  This also forms an integral part of our local service.

Operational Overview

Van der Walt Logistics (Namibia) (Pty) Ltd. specialize in local and cross-border operations, and we do employ automated administrative and information technology tools linked via the Asycuda system to the relevant border posts for the purpose of clearing and excise.

 

All vehicles are equipped with and being monitored by means of a specialized satellite tracking system to ensure safe and effective management of the fleet and cargo conveyed. In addition to our surveillance system, all our vehicles are also equipped with on-board cameras which are monitored daily. 

This function enables us to recall overall movements of each truck.  We receive daily reports in the form of video footage identifying non-compliances in relation to our safety standard.  

This would include the wearing of safety belts, over speeding, harsh breaking, distractions whilst driving, nightly driving, use of cellphone whilst driving and driving behavior in general. 

Drivers are scored on a monthly basis and the system provides a platform to coach, train and perform disciplinary action where required.

Van der Walt Logistics (Namibia) (Pty) Ltd. is RTMS (Road Transport Management System) accredited and was audited successfully in September of 2021. Every activity is subject to safety assessment and mitigating measures instituted.
